About Owen Gurry: Resume and Selected Credits

Owen is an accomplished guitarist and writer. He has a flexible, precise approach to playing and can adapt his style to fit almost any genre of music. Owen's exceptional improvisation and writing skills mean he has contributed creatively to many of the projects he has worked on. Owen is particularly good at working to brief and re-creating styles.

Radio

Owen has strong experience in music for broadcast both as a writer and session player.

bullet October 2007-Present (ongoing): Weekly BBC Radio 1 "1tros" (station logo) with the team at Music 4.

You can hear the extensive back catalogue here.

bullet Various guitar and bass sessions on numerous beds, jingles and so forth used BBC Radio 1 (with the team at Music 4) including material used on the Nick Grimshaw, Greg James, Zane Lowe, and Chris Moyles shows.

bullet Various and numerous guitars sessions for Dave Bethell including audio for KMFM, Tim Shaw (Absolute Radio), Spin FM and more

Owen is involved in writing and playing lots of world class library and production

bullet December 2008: Co-wrote and played material for V The Production Library's V Xmas 3 with the team at Music 4

bullet Owen has written material and sessioned for Beds and Beats since it was launched. Owen's writing credits include 'Summer Selection', 'Lounge and Kitschen', 'Truly Funky', 'Christmas Presents', and 'Total Sports' with many more exciting pieces underway.

Owen has also worked with various producers and artists on studio projects

bullet November 2008: Owen has worked with Sony BMG artist Arno Carstens (of Sprinbok Nude Girls fame)

bullet August 2008: Arrangement and performance of an acoustic B-side for Natalia's Perfect Day single (with Ben Mark) released on Upper 11 Records. This track is available on iTunes here.

bullet August 2009 - May 2010: Owen played guitars and arranged strings on Tanadra's debut hard rock EP. The self-titled EP is available on iTunes here and more details on Owen's work with Tanadra can be found in the Featured Clients section.

bullet September 2009: Owen provided guitars and bass for four tracks on Chris Moyles's Parody Album. You can hear Owen on 'Dog's Don't Kill People', 'Funeral Song', 'The Boy Does Plenty', and 'Album Track'

bullet August 2009 onwards : Zeno Groenewegen and Blue 1 Media. Owen has completed numerous projects for Dutch producer Zeno Groenewegen including the tongue-in-cheek viral 'Vakantie Vakantie' by Roy Raymonds and DJ.Z plus production music for European TV and radio broadcasts. bullet August 2009 - March 2010: Owen played guitars on Michael Chitoe's debut release. More details on Owen's work with Michael Chitoe can be found in the Featured Clients section.

bullet Owen launched www.netsessionguitarist.com in August 2009 and has since played for various and numerous producers, artists and songwriters creating materials for everything from a well-polished demo to commercial release and broadcast.

 
 
 

Live Session Work

bullet February - June 2008: Owen accompanied Natalia performing acoustic arrangements of songs from her debut release. He made nearly 30 appearances with the singer in a few months including Trevor Nelson's 'The Lick' on MTV Base.

bullet November 2009: Owen played guitar in the Sam Scott band. You can see videos of this performance here and here.

bullet 2007 - 2008: Bass in the Ben Michael Band. You can see videos of the band playing at the Great Indoors night at the Prince and Dex, Brixton here and here.

Other Projects

Owen provides a number of music products and services with a few more in the pipeline...

bullet Owen works as a commissioned composer writing music for freestyle dressage routines. The project involves writing music in a plethora of modern styles to a very specific brief and syncing to video. See www.dressagemusic.co.uk for more details.

bullet Owen created JamTracksForGuitar.com, providing Jam Tracks, Backing Tracks and Play-alongs for Guitarists. The project involves writing, performing and producing broadcast quality audio in a wide range of modern styles.
